Just curious,

If the volume database host is on the master server why would you need to
Use the vmquery ? I'm not suggesting that's not the case but we only
Have 1 media/master server and in the past we had 2 media servers, what
I found out was when I could not deassign some tapes that were written to
On the old media server was that the Volume database for that old media
server was set Incorrectly to use that Host name as the volume database for
that media server, then we had 2 volume databases, I had to use
deassignbyid then but only because it was setup wrong.

I found out that all media servers should be using the Master server as the
Volume database in the robot properties? Or is that wrong?

Thanks

You will have to use the vmquery -deassignbyid command
instead of bpexpdate. Bpexpdate requires that
Netbackup be able to communicate with the media server
that performed the backup using the tape. Once a media
server is decommissioned incorrectly the only way to
liberate those tapes that were orphaned is to use the
vmquery -deassignbyid command.
