In netbackup 5.1 mp2 veritas includes support for running the cleanup in =
the back ground.=20
=20
Etrack Incident =3D ET232060

Description:=20
   To assist image database cleanup in 24x7 environments, image database
   cleanup will always run in background. bpsched will not wait until =
the
   cleanup is complete before scheduling new jobs. In addition, bpsched =
will
   initiate an image database cleanup at periodic intervals, 12 hours by
   default. The time interval may be changed by using the=20
   bpconfig -cleanup_int <hours> command. For example, to change the =
interval
   to 24 hours, execute the following command:
  =20
   bpconfig -cleanup_int 24
  =20
   Use a value of 0 to disable bpsched from starting the periodic image=20
   database cleanup. The maximum value is 744 hours. Bpsched will =
still=20
   perform an image database cleanup at the end of a session, however, =
it will
   be run in background. On UNIX systems, bpadm may also be used to =
change
   the interval. =20

I have this scheduled to run every 1 hour on my system. In 4.5 (I don't =
know if the behavior changes in 5.x) this runs when the scheduler stops. =
 If you have an active system it might never run. I wrestled with =
images not expiring off disk for several months until I found out about =
that command. Now I just have it run once an hour. No problems since.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] BPIMAGE -CLEANUP

Has anyone ever run BPIMAGE -CLEANUP in a Windows environment?

Veritas support had us run it, but is telling us that there's no way to =
verify it's running or even completed and that it can take a couple of =
hours.

I don't like this answer. Can anyone who might know better tell me how I =
can check if it's running, a log file, something?

Thanks!
