caveat to this solution
multi-streams can get out of sync

It is possible for a stream to miss the monthly due to errors or whatever.
Eventually the window closes and no more retries are started.

Then on the next scheduled run the monthly for that stream
that failed the previous monthly will run a monthly again.

Meanwhile weeklys are being run for all the other streams.

Can get messy.

put two schedules in the policy to run at the same time.
Monthly one with a 1 year retention with a 4 week frequency
Weekly one with a 3 month retention and 1 week frequency.

every 4th week, the Monthly will run instead of the Weekly schedule.

you can specify different pools per sched. if you wish (override default)

What is the "best practice" on handling the Month end backups and the weekly
backups? What I mean is, I have Full Weekly's that are retained for 3
months, but I also have to squeeze in the Month Ends that are retained for 1
year. How are you dealing with this? I have about 70 policies with 7 master
servers. We have a ton of apps that all require different settings. I have
just been going in and modifying the retention period of the weekly's to 1
year but this is getting old. I am thinking of doing inline copies to a
different pool. Any ideas.
