Hi

Has anyone come across a system where two different backup tools are being
used to take FULL SQL database backups?

We have a system where an interim solution consisted of an online backup
tool taking full db backups alongside SQL itself taking log dumps every ten
minutes. With this in place a NetBackup system was installed and the
NetBackup online SQL agent configured to backup in full the databases only
and SQL continued to log dump every ten minutes. Both backup systems had to
run until the acceptance tests passed successfully.

A problem occurred recently where a point in time SQL db restore was
required using the NetBackup system. Using the SQL NetBackup Extension GUI I
restored the DB in non-recovered state hoping to go into SQL enterprise
manager and replay the SQL logs bringing the DB online. When trying to do
this it complained of inconsistent LSN (log serial numbers) is this problem
attributed to the fact that two backup tools are taking full backups at
different times of the day can anyone clarify this point for me

Kind Regards,

Imran
