I would use vmchange, this way netbackup know where the tape has gone,
otherwise you have to re-inventory the library . . .

(Eject TL8 or TLD volumes)
        vmchange -res -multi_eject -w -verbose
        -rn <robot_number> -rt <robot_type> -rh <robot_control_host>
        -ml <media_id:media_id:...:media_id>

Works great!! Hope this helps.

Our L700 as a load port on the front which takes 20 tapes (4 sets of 5
tapes). In theory they could open the robot up and pick the tapes out of
the 600 or so available... but apart from anything else this would require
the robot to re-inventory itself (about 10 mins) and require NetBackup to be
manually resync'ed with the robot.

We have some scripts which list tapes according to when the images on them
expire, and eject them in batches of 20, changing their volume group on the
way so we can track them.

We do have a smaller robot, where we let the OPs just open the robot up and
change the tapes, but there are only 40 tapes in the robot (and only 2 i/e
slots). They still manage to mess it up on a regular basis...

Has anyone got a Sun L700 and they automatically eject tapes for ops.

I had assumed ops could just go down to the unit and open it up and take
out the tapes with barcodes i gave them, but i have been told i need to
eject tapes to some load port.

help help

Thanks
Dave
