I've had this problem.
The short answer is switch to calendar based
scheduling. I'll admit, I haven't done this yet
either, but here is why:
When using frequency based scheduling, it takes a
frequency like "1 week" and only looks to see if a
backup should run once a week. At first, this sounds
like what you want, but it's not. Here is why: The
frequency is there to prevent you from doing too many
backups as well. This means if you have windows
opened on mon, tues, wed and thurs for a full for
example, and it runs on monday-- it knows that since
your frequency is set to 1 week, that you don't really
want it to run on tues, wed, and thurs. So when you
define a window, it's only in the context of the the
frequency hasn't been met yet, then run it. I had
this problem because I have a 3 day window of Fri,
Sat, Sun. All kinds of things can happen. Let's say
you run a manual backup as a test. Wham. You just used
up your once a week frequency, your weekend is going
to get skipped. In addition frequency based
scheduling has an annoying attribute of starting the
next frequency at the same time-- after all you said
one week, so if your backup couldn't start until sat
for some reason given the above example, then next
time a full week passes, it will be sat, even though
you have an open window defined for friday.
Switching to calendar based scheduling is a lot more
straightforward. If you don't want to, remember it
like this: The frequency is how often you want the
scheduler to check to see if it has an open window. I
set mine to 3 days, even though I only have an open
window once a week. This way, if I run a manual
backup it doesn't effect it usually, unless it's
within 3 days of a full, and in that case, I don't
mind if it skips it.
Confusing? Clear, clear-er?
