You should be able to put the path of the recycle bin into the exclusion
list for the host.
If you look at the Host Properties there is a tab for exclusions and any
directories that are in this list will not be backed up.
I believe wild cards can be used but I have not tested this but it is
something you could try.

[Veritas-bu] skipping recycle bins

Happy Thanksgiving all!
Now on to business. I am running NBU 4.5 MP5 on Win2k SP4. When
backing up my fileserver I've noticed that there exists in every users home
directory a hidden sub directory called "my documents/recycler". After
doing some additional research I found this is the default behavior of
windows networks where the windows admin redirects users documents to the
network. In and of itself it is a good idea but most don't realize that
now every user has (2) recycle bins! One on the local pc and one on the
fileserver windows fools us by not showing two recycle bins on the desktop.
Add to this the default setting that permits each recycle bin to hold up to
10% of the capacity of the host volume. So if you have a server with a 400
gig home drive each user can have up to 400meg of deleted documents sitting
there. Multiply that by the number of users ,let's say 100, you now have
"4 gigs of deleted data being backed up.
Now my question: Can I tell NBU to skip any directory with the name
"Recycler"? or can I tell NBU not to backup and hidden directories on a
specific volume?
