Chris,

As far as I understand your setup you will not need SSO because you are not
sharing the same drive between 2 or more servers.
The clue of your question is in the storage routers of your library that is
attached to fibre channel.
You can avoid that 1 HBA uses more than 3 drives by creating device mappings on
your storage routers in your library that contains the 18 drives.
You need to create device mappings that present 3 drives to a specific WWN
Number of the HBA. So you have to create 6 Device mappings that present
3 drives to one HBA.

Hope this helps

Martin

Betreff: [Veritas-bu] RE: SSO

I have a question for all of you SSO maniacs:

We are planning out a new design for our Netbackup environment and here are
some of the specifics:

1 - 3 Sun Fire v440 with two STK HBA's each
2 - 2 Cisco 32 port blades
3 - 18 LTO-2 tape drives.

We will configure to have STK HBA #1 from each v440 going to one Cisco blade #1
and STK HBA #2 going to Cisco blade #2.
We would like each HBA to see 3 LTO-2 tape drives for a total of 6 for each
v440.

My question to you is this; "Is there a way to ensure that each HBA will only
use three tapes drives each?" We would like to avoid an issue were 1 HBA will
use 6 tapes drive, which would degrade the performance of the drives.

Are there SSO bp.conf parameters or switch zoning that can do this?

Thanks
