Hi folks

I've been asked to help with the following:

NB45_FP6 Master server has two interfaces, one accessible from desktops
(master-public) and one reserved for backup traffic (master-backup).
I have media servers also connected to both networks, with similar interfaces
(media-public and media-backup).

So far no problem, the first SERVER entry in bp.conf on all machines reads
master-backup.

Problem is this: I want to run the Windows Admin Console on a desktop system
that only has access to the *-public interfaces on all machines.

If I do nothing to bp.conf, when I connect to 'master-public' it appears as a
client in the Admin Console.
If I add a SERVER entry on master *under* the main entry it appears as a media
server in the Admin Console.

If I add a SERVER entry on master *above* the current master server entry I
assume the admin console would work but my backups would fail? I haven't tried
this yet. It's not my system, so I'm playing safe :-)

How do I tell the master server & admin console that both interfaces are
*really* the master server, just from different networks?

I've read the Troubleshooting guide and my Advanced NetBackup course notes, but
the example of a multihomed master server only applies to clients in both
networks.

Is there a stealthy bp.conf entry that lets me configure multiple master servers
for one environment?
Is the .../netbackup/db/altnames/ stuff relevant here?

Cheers
Mike
