You might have to include the /var, /opt, & /usr mountpoints if you want all
the OS. These may be just directories off the root filesystem (at which
point don't put them in the backup filelist) or they may be their own
filesystems.

I assume your admin's point is that he wants just the OS mountpoints and not
the application mountpoints. *Everything* in Unix is a filesystem and
therefore there's an implicit mountpoint for all filesystems. His
instructions are a bit misleading.

Note - a full restore of the OS isn't possible from tape unless you have the
BMR product.

For the file list use:
/

Ensure that cross mountpoints is NOT selected in the policy attributes

Hi,
Running Netbackup 4.5 -Win2k Master server - have a requirement to back
up a HP-Unix server, and have now configured client ready to start backups.
Have been given request by unix administrator that the files backed up must
not include any directories which are mount points.

Although these could be identified individually to be excluded to ensure
that only root system directories are included and all others are excluded,
as more and more files are brought on line this will require a lot of manual
editing. Is there anyway to set a job to permanently exclude all mount point
directories. Sorry my unix knowledge is very limited!

Best Regards

Paul
