Also point releases require a current maintaince contract from Veritas.

Or as Veritas likes to say "Free" for current customers.

you hit the nail on the head with "a new way of veritas bringing out
features"

5.1 is to 5.0, as 4.5FP3 was to 4.5GA

the "feature pack" concept began and ended with 4.5 - the current 
plan going forward is just major releases, point releases, and 
maintenance packs.

5.0 GA = major release, followed by 5.0 MP1, 5.0 MP2, etc
5.1 GA = point release with new features, followed by 5.1 MP1, 5.1 MP2, etc
