SIZE and NUMBER of Data Buffers are only set on the Media Servers or
better explained those NetBackup servers that have connection to
physical devices.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS / SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS
Hi All,
Quick question, I am seeing this message in my bptm logs, and I am
trying
to performance tune my backups. I do not think the client is being set
to
the right number data buffers, however I have setup correct file paths
13:51:00.350 [10142] <2> write_data: received first buffer (262144
bytes),
begin writing data
13:51:00.358 [10142] <2> write_data: writing block shorter than
BUFF_SIZE,
32768 bytes
13:51:00.359 [10142] <2> write_data: writing short block, 32768 bytes,
remainder 0
On the master
master # cat cat /usr/openv/netbackup/db/NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS
16
master # cat /usr/openv/netbackup/db/config/SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS
262144
And on the client I have done the same,
client # cat /usr/openv/netbackup/NET_BUFFER_SZ
65536
client # cat cat /usr/openv/netbackup/db/NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS
16
client # cat /usr/openv/netbackup/db/config/SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS
262144
My question, is /usr/openv/netbackup/db/config a valid path on the
client
unix host or does it have to be in root install of netbackup
/usr/openv/netbackup?
thanks,
David
