[Veritas-bu] tape vs image duplication

Utilizing Vault, it is optional on the MPX settings.  You can keep the
off-site images multiplexed or de-multiplex the images.  Since speed is an
issue when performing a true DR, it is always preferred to de-multiplex the
off-site images.

By design, NBU Vault replicates via the images, not the media ID.  If you
want all FULL backups vaulted, the Vault process will scan the database for
any images that meet your criteria (in this case, FULL backups performed
between the scan dates that have only one copy), then will add all of the
found images to a list.  This list is then split up dependant on the number
of drive pairs you are utilizing for vault.  It is fully up to the
Administrator on how vault will perform via the configuration.

Hey,
I am starting to test backup duplication options. The plan is
to pull the FULL (level 0) backup tapes out of the library as
soon as they are full (capacity).
If I duplicate by class/schedule for everything that would have
had a FULL backup the night before, will this process keep mpx
format? (using the -mpx flag)..

Would it be faster to duplicate by media id or by class/schedule?

Any advice/input would be most greatly appreciated..
