You can definitely use the Scalar 10K with NBU without using Scalar DLC.
The library control is SCSI, so the robot should be connected to one of
the SNCs that your tape drives are connected to (unless you've got
direct-fibre LTO-2s). If the drives are direct-fibre, there should be
an SNC to allow the robotic control to attach to the SAN. So, yes there
does have to be something between the library and the SAN. ADIC
Professional Services will install the SAN connectivity for the library.

Don't forget to create the ovpass driver to allow AIX to talk to the
library.

Hello,

Does anyone use this library with NBU without an SDLC in a Fiber
environment? I am being told that somewhere in the library - either the

drives or the robot needs arbitrated loop so there needs to be some sort
of
adaptor or bridge in between it and the Fiber switch. This is in an
AIX
environment if that makes a difference?

Thanks
Jennifer
