It looks like you are missing:

        allocate channel for maintenance type 'sbt_tape';

After you run rman

This link will help:

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/251686.htm

The "run" below is just looking at the Rman catalog.

I hope this helps.

We've got an RMAN backup of our Oracle database. We're using a small RMAN
maintenance script to cleanup weekly.

The core of it looks like:
RUN {
  CROSSCHECK BACKUP;
  CHANGE ARCHIVELOG ALL CROSSCHECK;
  DELETE NOPROMPT EXPIRED BACKUP;
  DELETE NOPROMPT OBSOLETE;
}

OK - by our reading, this should compare the RMAN catalog against the NB
catalog. It should then clean the RMAN catalog of any images that NB has
lost or expired and the reverse.

After a test, it looks like the reverse didn't happen. Yes - it cleaned the
RMAN catalog but not one tape was released. I thought that if RMAN
retention made a backup piece obsolete, then it would trigger Netbackup to
expire the associated image. Didn't seem to happen.

Can anybody verify if RMAN catalog cleanup should (or should not) affect the
NB image database?
