You could setup a schedule for each day and use a different volume pool =
for each.
or
I thought there was a parameter that wouldn't allow images with =
different expiration dates on the same media. Then set a retention =
level of 28 days and use that for every backup.

After the backup has completed, suspend the media that was just used. =
This will prevent NetBackup from writing data to it, and it will still =
be usable for restores. When media is suspended, it still expires as =
normal so it should automatically re-add itself to the 'available' pool =
(not the SCRATCH pool though, just available) after it expires.
=20
You can suspend with the command: bpmedia -suspend -ev <mediaid> -h =
<mediaserver>
=20
If you have a really predictable schedule (which it sounds like you do) =
this should be fairly easily scriptable.

Hi all

=20

I need to do the following and want to know what's the best way of doing =
it?

=20

I have a backup with a 28 day cycle. We want the backup to use a new =
tape every day for 28 days. On day 29, it can start using tape 1 again, =
so we will have 28 tapes that will be over written every 28 days. We =
don't want to eject any tapes out of the robot and we don't have vault.

=20

Netbackup 4.5_3 which will upgrade to 4.5_5. Any ideas? (The backup per =
day will fit onto one tape - LTO 2 in a L700 robot)
