As you know MPX has to be set up in two locations, the Storage unit and
then the Schedule. If the Storage Unit allows 6 MPX streams, and you
are using the same stu for both your "non-mpx" and MPX policies, you do
run the risk of multiplexing your DB's with your MPX policies. to
ensure this will not happen, create another STU with MPX-1. check out
the Admin guide for a visual of how this works.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Multiplexing Tapes
=20
Hi,=20
There are advantages to multiplexing tapes(better speed) and
disadvantages (not being able to use tar or dd).=20
I'm wondering if the following scenario is possible using a single tape
drive.=20
Multiplex our Solaris and Win2k OS backups onto one tape.=20
Do not multiplex our database slices on to a single tape. Our db's are
large and thus don't encounter slower speeds. We can read them using tar
which is great for DR. We can use DD if we have a bad tape. We can=20
Is this possible without changing the multiplexing settings on the
storage unit?=20
Thanks,=20
Karl
