I just received an email from Veritas stating that it was not yet available
as an upgrade, only for new installations.  I'm not sure what the newbie's
can get it first, but that's it.

Here is the text of the message I received:

the new v5.0 shortly.  At that time, all customers with a current support
agreement will be sent an invitation to update.  The invitation will include
all the necessary information for you to process the 5.0 update.
