David,
 
I think you have to do what works for you and your environment.  My naming
conventions are as follows...  
 
 
Mas01.600.Windows.Server.Schedule.5
 
Mas01 = media server
600 = location
Windows = OS
Server = Type of data backup.  In this case Full server.  I also put SQL or
Exchange in this location.
Schedule = Schedule, Manual, User 
5 = multiplexing level
 
I also like to manage Pools by retention level.

pools, and anything else configuration related.
 
When I started with Netbackup, I had 2 Policies, one for WIndows, and one
for Unix.  I have *far* outgrown this, and am wondering what other people
are doing to keep this easy to manage.
