What process are you using to backup the 3 logs to tape? If you're using
the bpbackup command, then the logs will stay behind on disk. If you're
using "bparchive" to a user-archive type of schedule, then the files are
deleted on successful backup.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] DB2 Archive Logs
Hi,
I have installed Veritas NetBackup 4.5 to backup DB2 archive logs.
User exit program is turned on, Veritas is configured to send the
log files to tape (db2.conf, ARCFUNC SAVE) whenever "db2 terminate" is
executed.
I've executed the following steps:
i) Execute "db2 backup database..."
ii) Insert some data using "db2 insert into..." then "db2
terminate". Executed 3 times => 3 logs.
iii) Veritas backup those 3 logs to tapes.
iv) Execute "db2 restore database..."
v) Execute "db2 rollforward database..."
I notice that the logs are sent to tapes and they still exists in the logs
directory. When rollforward is performed, Veritas will only take those logs
that are not present in the log directory from tapes while retrieving the
rests from disks (e.g. log 1 from tape, log 2 and 3 from disk).
My questions are:
a) Aren't the logs supposed to be deleted from the log directory
once they are sent to tapes?
b) Is it due to the fact that the logs are not yet full and thus
they are not deleted from disk?
Thanks and regards,
YE Tan
