Your response was what I had expected, so thank you for confirming
also I am aware of the RMAN delete input functionality. I have actually
created a setup where I am duplexing the archive logs and am
sending the first location to tape through RMAN and the other to
tape via bparchive. The latter was so that I could roll forward (recover)
using the bparchive archive log backups in conjunction with ~any given
backup~
I have made (so long as my control files are in tact). I believe now that
in a scenario where I would be pulling from bparchive backups, that I would
restore to disk first and then allocate a disk channel. My discussion
is now out of the boundaries with the purpose of this list =).

Thanks again.

If RMAN doesn't send the file, then RMAN can't recover the file.

You have to send your .arc files via RMAN. If you then bparchive them
later, that works fine but RMAN can't fetch them back, you'll have to
bprestore them back into place.

RMAN does have a feature to delete the redo log once sent via RMAN to tape.

My question seems to cross both boundaries of RMAN and Netbackup.
I need to know that when restoring with RMAN, if RMAN will be
able to ~recover~ datafiles when the archive logs were backed up
using the bparchive binary. My understanding is that when you
backup archive logs via an RMAN script, both Netbackup and RMAN
will have created the necessary information so that they cand find
the respective archive logs. So my question is that with RMAN,
Will I be able to allocate a 'sbt_tape' channel during a database
recovery and then netbackup will be able to feed RMAN the needed
archive logs?

Netbackup 3.4.2
Oracle/RMAN 8.1.7.4
RMAN catalog 9.1.0.3
