NB keeps the track of tapes in its catalog even if they are removed from the 
autoloader.

As long as the Retention Level time period has not expired, the tapes won't be 
overwritten.

Vaulting is making copies of tapes,
 typically to send offsite while the original is still available on site for 
restores.
