Hi there,
Now that we have a fairly stable NetBackup 4.5 FP5 environment, we are
looking at ways of improving our backup performance and I came across the
following article on the Veritas web site:

The following is an excerpt from that article:
"Disable Job Tracker on each client machine by removing it from the All
Users Startup Group and killing the active process. (Job Tracker is listed
as tracker.exe in Task Manager. Job Tracker is designed for computers that
are used as desktop workstations, to tell the users when a backup is active
on their workstation. Consequently it is not needed on normal data center
class servers.)"
Since we only backup Datacentre servers, it looks as though we don't need
this program running. Since we have close to 100 Windows servers, I'm just
wondering whether it's worth my time and effort to disable TRACKER.EXE from
running on all Windows server (something tells my the payback will be
neglible)???
Comments anyone???
