Well it won't go away on the tape and it depends on how the job was
setup that would define when the image expires within the catalog. You
could always import the tape contents if the image retention is expired.
The image retention is usually set within the policy schedule attribute.

So if i just manually eject the tape its catalog information won't go
away? Or is there a command line program i run to say "this tape is
going
on vacation" ?

i plan on doing the long term stuff manually. As much as this sucks, it
will only be a once per month thing.
