system 1 is Solaris 5.8 NBU DC 4.5 FP4 - Master and Media Server
system 2 is Solaris 5.8 NBU DC 4.5 MP2 - Master and Media Server
=20
I'm upgrading to FP5 next week. I have one server on 4.5 FP4 and one on =
4.5 MP2. FP5 doc says to uninstall FP4 before installing FP5. On the =
MP2 version do I need to uninstall MP2 (and MP1) before installing FP3 =
and FP5?
=20
Do I have to do the same thing for the clients and the NBU =
Administration consoles (I think they are mostly GA except for one, =
mine)? Mine is the only admin console that can eject tapes from the FP4 =
robot. I couldn't find FP3 on the website and was told by support to =
email swupdate AT veritas DOT com to get an FP3 CD. An outside consultant =
installed the FP4 site; with his own personal CD I guess. Luckily I =
have one more week before the MP2 system gets upgraded. I agree with =
whoever stated earlier this week, the Veritas web site is the worst =
they've seen. It's difficult enough to find the information you need =
when you know what it is. How do you know when you have it all?
=20
Could this be any more complicated? Veritas is the software we love to =
hate. Thanks to all the contributers on this list it's not a hopeless =
situation.

ETC]

As I understand it, MP's contain only bug fixes, FP's contain new =
functionality.
You can go down either the Feature Pack or the Maintenance Pack route, =
but not mix and match.
But Veritas no longer recommend the 4.5 DC GA, recommending you use 4.5 =
FP3 as a minimum base.
=20
(It may be that you can add maintenance packs to feature packs, I'm not =
sure ... I believe FP4 & FP5 only contain but fixes to FP3, not =
additional functionaility).
=20
I have a 4.5 MP5 install & am about to back out the MP's & install FP3, =
then upgrade that to FP4...

Hi all,=20

We are currently using 4.5 DC GA with MP5 installed.=20
I have recently recieved CD's with 4.5 FP3.=20

Simple questions: What is FP3 [Feature Pack?] and is it of a higher =
revision than GA with MP5? What are the Vertias standards for software =
releases ETC.

Thanks in advance=20

Regards=20
