We are thinking of going just the opposite way!
We are a large Veritas shop and have started to migrate over
to Legato Networker. Service from Veritas has been a real
disappointment the last few months.
Case in point. We have a call open since 7/9/03 regarding a problem
with their bpvault product. (case I/D 181496340) and they havn't
a clue. They sent it to something called backline support and that
was like dropping it in a black hole.
At this point, our managers are giving serious consideration to dumping
Veritas all together and migrating completly over to the Legato solution.

Our Veritas sales representative is basically offering to bring in
Veritas Professional Services to do the migration for us. While we are
awaiting the proposal, I'd like to hear from others who have done this
with environments similar to ours. We have:
140 Solaris based servers
110 Windows based servers
EMC SAN Storage
Oracle Databases
MS Exchange
Our Backup infrastructure consists of multiple StorageTek L700s and
L700Es, with Solaris based servers and we will be doing the majority of
our backups over the SAN.
I'd like to hear about your experiences with Veritas Professional
services, your overall satisfaction with the migration, the length of
time it took, any problems encountered, and most importantly your
satisfaction with Veritas support after the migration.
