I agree. With testing we've done capacities for AIT-3 have reached upwards
of 800GB for one tape (not a typo) so this doesn't sound outrageous or
unusual. Depending on data type some of the latest tape technologies out
there can achieve phenomenal compression ratios.

That's entirely possible if the data you are backing up is HIGHLY
compressible.
I've seen similar results at a handful of clients while I was a consultant.

I just starting to use veritas netbackup with LTO generation 1
on paper the capacity is only 100GB (Native) or 200GB (compressed)
But when I check my tape, It say the capacity almost 300GB (Native)
is it normal or something wrong with my media server??..
fyi, backup status is succes.. and I also can restore some directory from it
successfully.
