Hello Barry
You may be in deep trouble here.
If you are at the 4.5 fp3 or higher level, you can use the new ndmpmover daemon
to drive a tape drive attached to a master/media server as a ndmp drive.
If I read the manuel correctly (note has to be at the fp3 or higher ndmp book)
this drive can only be used as an ndmp device.
I wonder if one can stop the ndmpmover daemon and then use the drive as an
non-ndmp drive? I believe that this would require two storage unit defined. And
one would have to be set inactive at all times.
Another possible solution. If this is a cifs only netapp, then you can mount
the netapp shares on the w2k master and back them up.
Let us know how it works out.

I'm in the process of configuring an NBU installation. I have NBU
Business Server 4.5, one NetApp filer, one library with a single tape
drive, a win2k server acting as the media/master server and a couple of
win2k, linux and solaris clients to backup. From the documentation it
seems that I need to dedicate a tape drive to an NDMP storage unit if I
want to backup the NetApp via NDMP. If I do this, is there any way to
backup the other clients to that tape drive? There seemed to be a hint
in the docs that I can make the master server an NDMP/proxy server.
Does anyone have any pointers?
Thanks,
Barry Lustig
