We have had numerous problems deleting jobs in 4.5 on one of our busy
systems (10,000+ hours in 24 hours).  The keep_successful_days and
keep_successful hours parameters in the bp.conf or the command line appear
to have limited sucess depending on which MP version you are running.  
We are now running MP5 and the jobs are disappearing from the bpdbjobs
output, but when checking the ffilelog dir and the trylog dir there are
files from the day we upgraded to 4.5.  These directories are taking up over
7 gig between them and causing the DB backup to take ages to complete. 
 
Logging a call with Veritas gets the response of - it works on my system !,
so I thought I would throw it open to the Community to see if anyone else is
experiencing this problem - or indeed anyone has a fix for this problem
(Veritas's workaround is to delete them manually !). Or this is indeed
something perculiar to our implemenation as we create hardlinks to these
directories for reporting purposes. .
