We went through that drill last year turning a dual master environment in=
to a Master and Media environment. Because there's catalog merging involv=
ed, we were told by Veritas that if we attempted to do it ourselves and f=
ailed, they would not provide support to recover so we opted to have one =
of their consultants come in to do it for us. I don't know if they were j=
ust trying to drum up consulting business or if it was just that complex =
(I suspect the former). However, it went smoothly and even better, worked=
when they were done. The one thing I do know is if you're planning on up=
grading your NetBackup version at the same time, it appears to be easier =
to do that on each master BEFORE you do the merge. Not a lot of help I'm =
sure but that's what we had to go thro
ugh to get it done. Given the complexities of the NBU catalog (as profess=
ed by many on this list), I would make sure you really understand what yo=
u want to do and how to do it before you do it and if you have the slight=
est bit of apprehension, consider using consultant help (not necessarily =
Veritas) to accomplish.
