That's not great.  We sometimes get 3300KB/sec with LTO-1.  We've spiked up
to 40MB/sec on occaision.  That's using very compressable data (Oracla
database files) on SAN-attached fiber.
 
Did you tune your SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS and NUM_DATA_BUFFERS?  I have no idea
what the gen-2 values are..and of course, Veritas won't tell you ;)  The
only way of figuring out the best values is to run a lot of test cases.

I'm getting about 3300KB/sec. 

Sun e250 Solaris 8 with an L8 LTO2 tape drive. I'm backing up 3GB of locally
attached data. 

I'm not sure if that is gewd. 

What do you get?
