We've been tinkering with BMR for the last year or so and although I can'=
t answer your specific question, I will tell you that BMR for Solaris alm=
ost works like JumpStart in that a single BMR file/boot server won't cros=
s network segments. So, if your IP addresses look like xx.20.xx.xx and xx=
=2E21.xx.xx and you have Solaris BMR candidates on each, you'll need (2) =
BMR file/boot servers (one for each segment). At least that's what was th=
e case in the version prior to what came out GA on June 1st. We've not in=
stalled the newest version yet but we don't see anything in the release g=
uide indicating this situation has changed. Just thought you might like t=
o know.

Dennis

So we are looking to bare metal restore our Solaris e450 Server as part o=
f our DR project.=20

We currently our production database server is the same server as our Net=
backup Server.=20

This might change it might not.=20

Option 1) BMR/Netbackup/DB server on one box=20
Option 2) BMR/Netbackup on it's own box. DB server on it's own box.=20

We are planing to only have a single Solaris server at our hotsite(2500KM=
 away).=20

I have been digging into the BMR docs and haven't really found an answer =
to the following question.=20

How many Solaris boxes do i need at the hotsite? Can i get away with a si=
ngle Solaris box. IE: boot the BMR from cd and restore the server onto it=
self or do i need a separate BMR box?=20

Does the BMR box have to be on a Solaris box or can i boot a Solaris box =
with a windows BMR server?=20

Thanks,=20
