Hi All
=20
The problem is in SSO environments on both Windows and Unix O/S's. =
NetBackup now keeps track of serial numbers (within the global database) =
on tape drives which is very cool for doing new installations but there =
is a downside that I have not managed to resolve other than the long way =
around. =20
=20
If the physical tape drive is replaced due to hardware errors, the =
tpautoconf -t command picks up the replacement drives with the new =
serial number but the configuration within the NetBackup global =
database still sees the old serial number and therefore the drives will =
not be used. From what I have seen there is not way to just do a =
refresh to the existing configuration so that the serial number is =
updated. What I am doing is to remove the existing drive configuration =
on all media servers and then re-creating the drive with the new serial =
number
=20
What I am trying to find out is am I missing something? Is there an =
easier way to do this without deleting and re-creating the drives?

Regards
