We do this.

I have a script that monitores the filesystem size and uses the bparchive
command to backup then deleted the oldest archived redo file. It triggers
at a 75% filesystem usage and archives the oldest files until the filesystem
hits 60%.

It is nice since you know that if the file was deleted successfully, it was
placed on tape. It removes the worry that you accidentally manually deleted
a redo log, using "rm", and it somehow failed the process of getting on
tape.

Remember, though, when you restore, you have to use the restore from Archive
choices rather than the restore from backup images.

I've never quite understood why NB tracks them separately.

Hi All

Small Q? can we use netbackup archive option to perfrom backup of oracle
database archive files

As per doc archive file 1st perfrom backup & then delete files

My doubt oracle archive directory there are active files . Will netbackup
leaves active files & perform archive on rest or it will simply perfrom
archive operation on all files

If any one tested above env. pls reply

Thanks in adv
