I found an old Exabyte 17D FS-DLT PN 412058001.
It had a dlt 4000 so I swapped it w/ a dlt 7000.
I bet it is not that simple as I am getting drive failing POST etc...
I bet I need to do firmware on the drive.

Anybody able to point me to the firmware and process?

I hooked an exabyte EXB-8500 tape drive to a sparc solaris 8 host with
NetBackup 4.5 business server. Sgscan and Admin console wizard discovers
the drive with no problem. The drive responds to mt and tar so it's
operating on the OS level without any errors. However when I use bplabel to
create my volumes, I get "The drive is not ready or inoperable" error.
available_media reads okay and tpconfig -d lists the drive and displays it
status as up. Any ideas why bplabel won't work?
Thanks in advance

Prince
