Hi Folks
Here is what I got :
Solaris Master Server in SSO Environment with SUN Media and HP UX Media
Servers
Connected to a L700e 2 Silo unit ACS controlled
I and backup in 5 different EMC Celera's via NDMP. Some are UFS and
some are CIFS volumes.
Question is . When dealing with CIFS Volumes
When NBU opens up a NDMP stream, I assume that the NDMP interface on the
Celera builds the file list when its get the name of the volume from NBU
has was given to it. Then Celerra sends the all of the files on that
share thru the NDMP stream back to the tape drive on the SAN.
When we backup a Volume of say 220G with 200,000 files I get a status 0
on the end of the job.
When we restore that volume, I am on getting 210G and about 190,000
files restored and all of the permissions are not being correctly set.
I am not sure if the permission problem and the missing file problems
are part of the same issue.
My question to the group is .
In a NDMP setup (and this answer may or may not Celerra specific) what
happens when open files are encountered. My belief is that the Celerra
would do whatever it is needed to handle any open file issues. If for
some reason a lock could not be granted, does anyone know if there is a
feature in the NDMP protocol to let Netbackup know that files were
skipped due to the lack of file lock, thus making the return code on the
job a one instead of zero or would you think that the skipping of the
files would be logged internal on the Celerra and Netbackup would never
know the difference?
