If you are thinking about the "EMC Option" it is effectively EMC Timefinder
bundled via Veritas for snap-image backups, IDBL.

Mark,

That's what I thought...

Thanks!

I was a little confused when I was told about some sort of product
that is an interface between EMC and NetBackup???

I thought that maybe this product was a requirement?

Thanks!

Is your intent to write backup images to disk? I'm afraid I don't
understand your question.

If you're wanting to write images to tape, you need to create a disk
storage
unit (or units).

Make a filesystem from your disks - it's easiest to combine the disks using
some sort of volume management software (VxVM) into a single filesystem &
mount it with a name, for example "/images".

Then, using the GUI for ease, create a new storage unit. One choice in the
creation process is to choose a "disk" type storage unit. You then supply
the "/images" name as the destination. Bounce the daemons to pick up the
new storage unit & you're done. You can assign that disk STU to a backup
class just like any other STU.

If this isn't what you're looking for, please clarify your question & post
back.

Folks,

We have been given access to EMC disks on our NetBackup Server through HBA

Here's the info:

AVAILABLE DISK SELECTIONS:

          /pci@1f,4000/scsi@3/sd@0,0

          /pci@1f,2000/lpfc@1/sd@10,7

At this time, we are using tape robots exclusively...

I didn't receive any info on using disk in the NBU training class

:0(

Can anyone point me in the right direction to resources concerning EMC, NBA
and SAN?

Thanks!
