Check out Backupscripts.com download section. There is a link to a tool
there called unbtar that will let you read an NBU tape (even on that is
MPX'd). So you can direct the people offsite to get this tool then they
"should" be able to read it.

  Subject: [Veritas-bu] Netbackup using Tar

  I run netbaclkup 3.2 on solaris 8.

I believe for some reason that netbackup uses GNU tar to back up. Does
anyone know if this is true??

What i need to do is back something up with netbackup send the tape off
somewhere and for them to read it and they do not have netbackup.

I was thinking i could back something up to a new tape with netbackup,
then move it and look at it with gnu tar :-

  /usr/local/bin/tar tvf /dev/rmt/0

This doesnt work at start so i did a mt -f /dev/rmt/0n fsf 1 then did
/usr/local/bin/tar tvf /dev/rmt/0n but still get errors :(

Anyone got any idea of how i can do what i want?

  Thanks
