Octave:
I would recommend that you "reset" your pathlights rather than reboot. The
POST on the 5101 takes about 3 minutes, which is just long enough for any
Windows NT/2000 media servers to lose connection to the tape drives (if they
still see all drives), and you will most likely end up having to reboot the
servers for them to see them. If you are running strictly *NIX, you should
be fine.
To reset the pathlights, telnet in to them and issue the reset command.
They should reset in about 20 seconds. Once they are back up, telnet into
them again, and you can check to see if all paths and devices are present by
issuing the following commands: scsiShow and fcShow (please note that they
are case sensitive).

Octave.
I am pretty certain the problem is in how Veritas sees the drives. I came
across this a month or so ago, maybe a bit more.
Basically you should be able to resolve it by rebooting the SNC.
But to confirm there is an issue, under media and device management, confirm
that the Multihosted drives are all visible,
You need to make sure that that serial number of each drive is present when
you get down to the device.
I have found that this is normally the case.
