Hi Steve,
We can copy and ftp a large amount of file without any problems and its
fast. We are using the NBU default settings except the network
connection time is set to 3000. The ping stops immediately (timed out)
after we kick off a backup.

Are you sure that your network connections are "shutting down"? What
gives you that impression?

Some hints where NBU and network connectivity are concerned:

- make sure that both server NIC and switch port are hard set to 1000FDX
- increase client connection timeout to something like 4500
- increase client read timeout to something like 4500
- increase bpstart timout to something like 2500
- have you tweaked network buffers?

Other than that, it sounds like your running NBU under Windows, which my

knowledge of is extremely limited. Maybe some others on the list can add

some suggestions.

HTH,

Steve
