ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch00 TYPE sbt;
ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch01 TYPE sbt;
that should grab the default tape device name successfully. You might
want to check the doco on 9i rman and 9i backup+restore which you can
find @ docs.oracle.com for more detail.
