Hello.

I've run into an odd problem. I'm using an ADIC 80 tape AIT2 robot with
4 drives and NetBackup 3.4GA on Solaris. What happens is that from time
to time I find a drive offlined, with a tape still in the drive. Volmgr
doesn't show (in the gui at least) that a drive is there, however.
Looking physically at the drive I see no problems with the drive, but a
tape is loaded into the drive. Using robtest I see that there is indeed a
tape in the drive and I also see it's information properly (slot number,
etc).
The problem, first off, is that the tape should have unloaded
automatically which it didn't. Secondly, I can't manually remove the tape
via robtest:
unload d4
Opening /dev/rmt/3cbn, please wait...
Error - cannot open /dev/rmt/3cbn (I/O error)

This is the second time it's happened. The first time I assumed it was a
one time fluke and didn't worry about it, I manually removed the tape
(opened the robot and hit the eject button, after which it did eject) and
retired the tape. But it's happened again. And in a diffrent drive.
Any ideas as to what this might be?

benr.
