Thanks for the assistance, I figured it out. I had already downloaded
the drivers from Quantum, the problem was that the drives were not showing
up in the Windows device manager. I broke down and called Quantum to ask
them, but while I was on hold, I recabled every thing to the on board
Adaptec controller instead of the add on card, that worked. About that
time, the Quantum guy got on the line and told me that for some reason, the
ATL libraries will not work with RAID controllers. Anywho, the drives
immediately showed up (and the changer too). I installed the drivers and
every thing is working.

Yes the drives are installed. I am talking about the DRIVERS for the
hardware. In device manager look for medium changers as a category. The
robot will probably show up there as an unknown changer.
Get the software drivers from the vendor and install them

You have me confused. The drives are already installed in the
library. The library is cabled up all on one chain. Listed in reverse
order: LVD/SE terminator --> drive 2 --> drive 1 --> robot --> Dell
server. The drives and the library show up in the config utility for the
SCSI controller card, but not in Windows. It must be some sort of hardware
problem, but I am not sure what it is since the drives show up correctly in
the SCSI util, but not in the Windows device list.

You need to get drives for the library and drives and install them
first generally.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Help! Installing Quantum ATL 1500 and Win2K
I need some help installing an ATL 1500 with 2 DLT8000 drives under
Win2K Advanced server. The server is a Dell 6350 with 2 PERC/2 LVD
SCSI
controllers. The external RAID array (PV200) is attached to the
first
controller and the internal drivers are attached to the second
controller.
I currently have the ATL library attached to the second port of the
second
controller. The library is assigned SCSI ID 0, tape drive 1 is ID
2, and
tape drive 2 is ID3. I have installed Win2K, but it does not see
the
drives.
When the system boots up, I run the SCSI config utility built into
the adapters and it sees the library and the two tape drives on the
second
controller with the ID's they are supposed to have. I let Winblows
boot up
and it does not see the devices anywhere. I ran the device manager
and let
it scan twice with no luck. Neither of the drives are showing up
anywhere,
there is not even a "Tape Drives" category or an "Other" category
listed.
Any suggestions? Windows should see it shouldn't it, when the
adapter can
see it? Please help!
