RE: AIT drives [was SDLT vs LTO Ultrium]I think you'll be pleased with the
AIT treefrog, in the past we had at least 90 of those libraries (have
consolidated to the gator 64K now) and those things never gave us any
trouble. AIT drives like to be cleaned about every 40-50 hours though, so
be sure to setup your software to do so when the time comes, dirty drives
are the only issues (well, other than a dead drive) that causes tapes to get
stuck, etc. I'm curious if you're on AIT2 or AIT3? I noted in a past post
that it seems to me, that AIT3 is the most reliable of the two. Connected
to a netapp we see 12MBps on AIT3 and multiplexing 6+ unix clients we see
around 30MBs because the compression algorithm on those little drives ROCK!

You backing up a netapp?

  Yup.

Gotta nice NDMP enabled Treefrog for testing.

But, until the budget (and a few thickheads) say otherwise, I'm stuck on
DLT.

Yeah 85%+ of 300 tape drives are AIT2/3, but other divisions or
acquisitions
use DTF2's or LTO. Has anyone noticed that AIT3 drives are much more
solid
  than AIT2? I haven't had a single AIT3 drive hiccup in the past 5-6
months
since we got em. :) BTW if you use AIT3 be sure to upgrade your firmware,
a
new upgrade just came out regarding tension on the cleaning tapes.

I thought you guys used AIT tapes at Yahoo...

At least that's what a certain tape library vendor likes to claim.

  Well,

The question is about 9940B and you answer to,that's why I said that !

So I'm very wrong on the price, OK I hope so, I'm not a saler and I don't
care, I've just say what I know.

If tape don't load fast, you don't take care, OK I just want to do a
difference, once again I'm not a saler ,and once again I say what I know
and
  I'VE TESTED !

I've never say that LTO is a bad drive, I think that you aren't very
interesting about responses about this thread, except if this is like you
  said.

Kudos to you and I'll won't be back.

  Regards.

  Fabrice
