Caveat to this. SDLT drives can read DLTIV media *only* if the drive is
BRC (backward read compatible). Both types of drives are manufactured
and sold (BRC and Non-BRC). The BRC drives have an extra moving part in
order to read DLT IV media, which is why some people opt to go Non-BRC.

SuperDLT can read DLT IV tapes but cannot write to them. You will need
to
purchase SDLT tapes for SDLT drives.

Can DLT IV tapes that were written to in a DLT8000
drive be read by a Super DLT drive?

How about DLT IV tapes that were written to in a
DLT7000 drive?

Can Super DLT drives write to DLT IV tapes, if so,
whould the capacity be 40/80 Gig?
