I had the same problem when I used barcodes that began with digits in 3.4.
Oddly enough, NBU would recognize certain digits, but not others. For
example, I couldn't read anything starting with 0 and a couple of others. I
switched to barcodes beginning with letters and had no more problems. This
is definitely a Veritas problem. I know the barcodes were good and the
reader didn't have any problems because I used the barcodes and library with
ArcServe before installing NBU.

So does no one use barcode rules? Has anyone set them up under 3.4? I
haven't heard anything on this and I'm surprised, I figured most people
were using them at least for the SCRATCH pool.

The barcode tag of 07 is the beginning of the barcode range of 070000
thru 079999.

Using xnb I went under media management, options, barcode rules, and set
up a barcode rule with the following:

Barcode tag 07
Pool SCRATCH
# mounts 0 (infinite)
desc SDLT media

Using almost the exact format under 4.5 it worked without issue (only
difference is barcode tag being DJX instead of 07). Under 3.4 though it
doesn't seem to work and I can't see any reason why.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Thanks.

~JK
