ACS is NOT required with an L700 or L700e, with or without mixed media. I
have several L700s with mixed media and am controlling the robots as TLD
libraries.

It is required if you want to allow multiple master servers to share the
same library without sharing a single volume database.

I believe you only need ACSLS if you're going to mix your media types
within the library. If the geometry of all the media in your robot is the
same (i.e. SDLT) you shouldn't need ACSLS.

We have a L700e (without the expansion, if that makes a difference) and
NBU4.5 and we're not using ACSLS. We're treating this like an ordinary
TLD
library.

It's LTO drives on fiber bridges, 4 Media servers shareing 8 tape drives.

Once we got our bridge/HBA software to the correct level, there's been no
problems with the SSO - we were getting scsi reservation & scsi timeouts.

All solaris 8 environment.

I believe that if we install a second L700 & attempt to link the two via
the
pass-through, then ACSLS becomes a requirement.

Hi

Can somebody confirm that NBU 4.5 + SSO requires ACSLS to manage a STK
L700e ATL?

Regards
Jim McDonald
