We run 9840Bs (all FC) in a Windows-only environment and I've never seen a
read/write problem that wasn't tape-related. We've had them in place for
almost a year. In general, they've been extremely reliable and performed
very well for us.

We have in a period of app. a year or so expierenced quite a few I/O errors
on our STK9840a+b tape drives(scsi and fiber) running NBU DC3.4 on
mediaservers from various hardware vendors(Solaris, Aix and Compaq) , and
would like to
know if it is a common problem also seen in other installations, or if we do
have a local problem in our own installation.
