database backups are not too much overhead, but the mailbox backups
(brick-level backups) will take forever and are a lot of overhead.

the Exchange agent uses the APIs in Exchange to do the backups. by
"freeze", if you are asking does it shutdown the database, take a
snapshot, bring the database back up and then back up the snapshot... no.

Does anyone have an idea on how much overhead an Exchange Database backup
put the client itself?

Also, does the Exchange agent freeze the db in order to complete a backup,
what is the process of the backup?

Thank you in advance
