When I run alternate client restores, I have found that they must be run
from the client you
are restoring to. If you are using the java interface in the client, I
have found that I need
to add a CLIENT_NAME=<original host> parameter to the bp.conf file. This
allows me to
change the source client to the one I am restoring from. Note that after
you
do the alternate client restore you need to comment out the above
parameter otherwise
your Veritas scheduled backups may abort with a 219 error.

Environment.

Master Server.
Solaris 8
NBU 4.5 MP1

Media Server
Solaris 8
NBU 4.5 MP1

Client
Solaris 7
NBU 4.5 (no service pack).

If I backup from any of these servers, I can't do an alternate Client
restore.

I have added the altnames directory to the Master Server,
with No.Restrictions.

When I run a restore, NBU reports that the file cannot be restored because
it already exsists (when it doesn't).

On another occassion. The backup completes successfully, but the files
don't appear in the destination directory.

Does anyone have any ideas?
